- W2046208538 abstract "A general procedure is given for constructing infinitely many systems of wave equations and subsidiary conditions for a particle of given spin and nonzero mass. The subsidiary conditions are shown to be precisely the conditions which annihilate solutions of the wave equations corresponding to the wrong spin values. Several different but equivalent sets of subsidiary conditions are derived. Explicit formulas are obtained which relate one set of covariant wave functions to a different set: these relations may be reinterpreted if desired as wave equations. The converse problem of recovering the canonical representation from the manifestly covariant theory is discussed, and three different procedures are derived. The discrete transformations of space inversion, time reversal and particle-antiparticle conjugation are treated, and a proof is given of a result found empirically by Foldy. A brief account is given of the invariant scalar product. The main body of the paper uses a momentum space representation, but an heuristic treatment is given of the transition to a configuration space representation by means of a four-dimensional formal Fourier transformation. The space-time coordinates (introduced as Fourier transform variables conjugate to the momentum and energy) derived from different manifestly covariant descriptions of a given system appear to be inequivalent." @default.
