The experimental results demonstrate that enhancements in signal/noise over the conventional repetitive single-pulse method are indeed obtainable but are much lower than originally predicted. The principal reason is the fact that T2 < T1 for 13C nuclei in most compounds due to transverse relaxation contributions from 13CH scalar coupling, and the experimental data presented here agree well with calculations for the case where T2 < T1. In practice, magnetic field instabilities may limit the enhancements attainable with pulse spacings large enough to allow sufficient resolution in the final Fourier-transformed spectrum." @default.
