Therefore, this vital fundamental process is first considered. Creating new ideas and re-examining older ideas that lead to improvement—how simple is that? The problem is—it isn’t. The truism holds, ‘‘Change is hard,’’ and yet it’s essential to progress, which benefits all [2]. Even within the ‘‘facts rule’’ domain of science, challenging the status quo is difficult, and not necessarily for reasons that are logical or lofty [3]. Roadblocks to change, often occult, are everywhere, and change-resistant, anachronistic, organizational power structures add to the recalcitrance. Rather than being encouraged, the questioning of current convention can spawn undue costs; and the hallowed halls of academia are not a sanctuary from that counterproductive paradox. These pervasive impediments do not always prevail, however. And, once revealed, the undeniable power of new knowledge slowly transforms even ensconced ideation or, for that matter, the longstanding dogmas of science or medicine. It is true that not all ‘‘seasoned ideas,’’ or their pragmatic representations, should be automatically replaced by something new and shiny (and unproved).
