- W2047562565 abstract "Abstract A micro-processor-based calculator is described which uses a number system representation for easy understanding by a primary school starter. The number system employs the basic die configuration, where each digit of any number is expressed by a combination of dots. The calculator can perform the four basic arithmetic operations in addition to specially designed exercises. The system is intended for use by children in the 6- to 10-year age group. The system consists mainly of a microcomputer with special monitor program and a display unit having eight 3 × 3 dot matrices of LEDs so that each matrix represents a decimal digit. The display unit also shows the equal and the arithmetic operation signs. The interaction with the system is carried out through a keyboard. The actual electronic design of the system uses a 8085 microprocessor, ROM, RAM and PPI. The ROM stores the monitor program permanently while the RAM stores the intermediate result for each current operation, and the PPI interfaces the keyboard and the display to the microprocessor." @default.
