- W2047566148 abstract "The angular distributions of elastically scattered alpha particles have been measured for the natural targets of Be, C, O, Al, Ca and Ni at lab energies of 8.75, 9.35 and 10.15. Fairly good optical-model fits can be made except for 16 O and for 12 C at 10.15 MeV where an extra oscillation appears in the diffraction-like pattern. The energy dependence of the oxygen data is pronounced, and the optical model does not appear to be valid at these energies. The variation of best-fit, optical model parameters was studied with an automatic search routine. In the final analysis geometric parameters for a given nucleus were fixed at average values and a more or less consistent set of best-fit parameters was obtained for the three energies. However, the corresponding best-fit values of the real potential varied widely from nucleus. For the three heaviest nuclei, the values of the radius parameter are larger and the diffuseness parameter smaller than reported at higher energies." @default.
