- W2048799368 abstract "SUMMARYOn the basis of external appearance, the populations of Rana porosa can be divided into three groups; R. p. porosa, Nagoya type R. p. brevipoda, and Okayama-type R. p. brevipoda. Accordingly, their lampbrush chromosomes, studded with various and stably heritable landmarks, were examined to determine to what extent the landmark patterns correspond with the variations in external appearance. While the lampbrush chromosomes of R. p. porosa invariably had 26 noticeable landmarks, those of both R. p. brevipoda subpopulations had 30 landmarks each. Of the landmarks in R. p. brevipoda, 25 were homologous in form, size, and position with those of R. p. porosa, four were new additions, and the remaining one differed in position from that of R. p. porosa. Two subspecies showed differentiated chromosomal morphology, while Nagoya-type and Okayama-type R. p. brevipoda showed no morphological alterations in their chromosomes." @default.
