- W2048891451 abstract "ABSTRACT Soil, structural and wave measurements are recorded on FRIGG CDP 1, a concrete gravity platform of Doris-Howard design. The soil and structure responses are analysed for various sea states, defined by significant wave heights and wave directions. Computer processing of digitally acquired data, in the time and frequency domains shows how wave energy is transferred to the structure and correlates pore pressure in the soil under the structure to the sea state. Several soil-platform modes have been identified in the 0 - 1 Hzfrequency band width. Differences exist between dynamic behaviours of this type of gravity platform and a conventional steel jacket. INTRODUCTION Oil and gas production in the North Sea in deeper waters, rougher environmental conditions and with new types of platforms - gravity concrete structures-has increased the need for a better knowledge of platform behaviour under wave loads. Concerning CDP 1, Lloyd's Register of Shipping certifying agency for the platform at the time of installation on FRIGG Field, asked for a comprehensive monitoring and instrumentation program to determine the early and long term behaviour of the structure and subgrade. Therefore an instrumentation system was designed for the platform. A first set of sensors measures the dynamic behaviour of the structure. Its first component is a wavemeter at the platform location to measure the true and major input to be correlated with platform responses, considering that waves do not propagate conservatively. Measurement of the waves direction is also performed to identify inline and transverse responses." @default.
