- W2049460912 abstract "Abstract Interest in the ability of light to induce changes in the chemistry of surface waters has increased markedly in recent years with a concomitant increase in the number of articles and reviews in this area. While most emphasis has focussed on the effects of light in enhancing the degradation of toxic or troublesome organic compounds, considerable interest exists in the ability of light to induce changes in the speciation of metals with resultant effects on the availability of nutrient metals and the mobility, fate and toxicity of heavy metals. In this paper, light induced changes to the speciation of metals in natural waters that have either been observed or are considered likely to be of significance are discussed." @default.
