It was shown that of the sixteen combinations tested, nine larval groups showed a preference for conditioned onion, five showed no preference and two showed a preference for fresh onion. Significantly, it was the older larvae which preferred the fresh onion. Further, it was demonstrated that the inoculation of a larval macerate to fresh onion prior to the addition of 1st-instar larvae significantly reduced larval developmental time. Using these data and also information from the literature a scenario was constructed of the interaction of larval preference and onion damage in the field. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DIE KONDITIONIERUNG VON ZWIEBELN UND IHR EINFLUSS AUF DIE PRÄFERENZ, DAS ÜBERLEBEN UND DIE ENTWICKLUNGSGESCHWINDIGKEIT VON LARVEN VON DELIA ANTIQUA Der Effekt von konditionierten und frischen Zwiebeln auf die Präferenz von Larven von Delia antiqua wurde untersucht. Dazu wurden Zwiebeln verwendet, welche während vier verschiedenen Zeitperioden von Larven konditioniert worden waren, ferner Larven von vier verschiedenen Altersstufen. Von den sechszehn getesteten Kombinationen zeigten neun Larvengruppen eine Präferenz für konditionierte Zwiebeln, fünf zeigten keine Präferenz und zwei eine Präferenz für frische Zwiebeln. Dabei waren es gesichert die älteren Larven, welche frische Zwiebeln vorzogen. Ferner wurde die Entwicklungsdauer der Larven signifikant verkürzt durch den Zusatz eines Larvenmazerats zu frischen Zwiebeln vor der Infektion durch Erstlarven. Mit Hilfe dieser Daten und von Literaturangaben wird ein Scenario des Zusammenspiels von Larvenpräferenz und Zwiebelschäden im Feld beschrieben." @default.
