- W2050348580 abstract "Abstract Raman spectra of N 2 H 5 F, N 2 H 6 F 2 and thirteen hydrazinium fluorometalates [N 2 H 5 ScF 4 , (N 2 H 5 ) 2 TiF 6 , (N 2 H 5 ) 3 VF 6 , (N 2 H 5 ) 2 MnF 4 , (N 2 H 5 ) 2 MgF 4 , N 2 H 5 CuF 3 , N 2 H 5 ZnF 3 , N 2 H 5 CdF 3 , N 2 H 5 ZnTiF 6 .5H 2 O, N 2 H 6 TiF 6 , (N 2 H 6 ) 2 TiF 6 .F 2 , N 2 H 6 FeF 5 and N 2 H 6 (MgF 3 ) 2 ] were recorded and compared with known i.r. spectra (for some of which a corrected assignment is given) in order to find a simple and reliable way of distinguishing an N 2 H + 5 from an N 2 H 2+ 6 ion. The previously used criterion, based on the position of the NN stretching vibration, led to some confusion because the frequencies nearly overlap (N 2 H + 5 ion: 950–980 cm −1 , coordinated N 2 H + 5 ion: 1000–1020 cm −1 , N 2 H 2+ 6 ion: 1020–1060 cm −1 ). The sole dependable criterion is the activity of this vibration which appears in N 2 H 2+ 6 compounds only in the Raman and in N 2 H + 5 compounds both in the Raman and the i.r. independent of ion conformation. Multiple NH deformation and rocking absorptions reflect solid state interactions in fluorometalates, but as no strong hydrogen bonds were observed, their high position, comparable with fluorides, seems to be caused by some other effects. An explanation for the high frequency of the NN stretching absorption in the spectra of coordinated N 2 H + 5 ion is offered." @default.
