Structured interviews of 301 adults, including medical technicians, nurses, hospital clerks, persons attending a clinic screening for coronary artery disease, and residents of housing projects for the elderly, showed that nearly one third of the subjects had experienced gastrointestinal symptoms in the preceding year.
