Oscillopsia is an illusion of an unstable visual world. More often, oscillopsia results from abnormal eye movements, such as nystagmus or saccadic intrusions or from impaired vestibulo-ocular reflex, which cause excessive motion of images on the retina. Oscillopsia is associated with poor visual acuity and is a disabling and stressful symptom reported by numerous patients, specifically following neurological disorders. The goal of the paper is to summarize the physiology of the systems underpinning stable vision, the different pathophysiological mechanisms of ocular instability and oscillopsia and the different treatment options in these conditions." @default.
