- W2051431103 abstract "Abstract It was noted that if ICP was operated with the nebulizer pressure of 235 kPa and radio frequency (RF) power of 800 watts, considerable underestimation occurred, especially if the concentration of K in the test solution was very different than the K concentration with which the ICP was calibrated. Underestimation of the K concentration, measured at the 769 nm optical line and with ICP calibrated at 600 ppm of K, for example, was ‐3, ‐17, and ‐33% at K concentrations of 400, 300, and 100 ppm, respectively. The presence of Na in the test solution, depending on its concentration and the optical line used, interfered differently with the determination of K. For example, the presence of 1, 50, and 300 ppm Na in solutions containing 75 ppm K caused the K measurement (at the 766 nm optical line) to deviate by ‐40, ‐17, and +28%, respectively, from the real concentration. Addition of Cs to the solutions reduced the interference of Na with the K measurement, especially at the 769 nm optical line. It was found that by reducing the nebulizer pressure to 152 kPa and increasing the RF power to 1250 watts, a) K could be measured with much more accuracy, and b) without addition of Cs, up to 300 ppm Na did not interfere with the determination of K." @default.
