- W2051828412 abstract "The densities of boutons termineaux on the cell and on the dendrite surface in the ventral horns of the lumbar region of the feline spinal cord were investigated, using the staining method of Armstronget al. (1956). The densities in the normal animals were compared with those in animals which had undergone unilateral dorsal root section and from this it was calculated: (i) of terminals on the ipsilateral dendrites up to 30% are from dorsal root monosynaptic afferents; (ii) of terminals on theipsilateral cell surface, 30–50% are from monosynaptic afferents; (iii) of terminals on the contralateral cells, not more than 10% are from crossed monosynaptic afferents; (iv) of terminals on the contralateral dendrites not more than 15% are from crossed monosynaptic afferent fibres. The proportion of ipsilateral to contralateral monosynaptic afferent endings is about 4:1. At 14 days after operation, glial cells can be seen opposed to areas of dendrite or perikaryon surface which are bare of synaptic contacts." @default.
