Or, les intoxications aiguës au lithium ne sont pas rares, le plus souvent lors d’actes délibérés. La symptomatologie des intoxications est très variable et parfois le patient garde des séquelles. Cependant, il existe des traitements efficaces, l’hémodialyse en particulier qui permet d’améliorer considérablement la clairance du lithium. Nous avons étudié et comparé aux données de la littérature, les cas d’intoxications aiguës pris en charge dans le service de Réanimation Médicale du CHRU de Tours ces trois dernières années. La symptomatologie, l’évaluation des lithémies et le traitement de ces intoxications ont été analysés. En conclusion, bien qu’apparaissent de nouvelles molécules dans le traitement du trouble bipolaire, le lithium reste un outil important dans la prise en charge de cette pathologie, nécessitant, de la part des cliniciens une surveillance accrue de ces patients. The efficacy of lithium in the prevention of bipolar disorders is now well established. However, acute lithium intoxications still occur, often after suicide attempts. Symptoms are often different from one patient to the other, and long lasting neurologic sequelae may happen. Active treatments are available, notably haemodialysis, which increase lithium clearance dramatically. We report cases quoted in the department of intensive care of Tours University Hospital over the last three years and compared them with the literature. Lithium level and treatment of these intoxications were analysed. Although new medicines are available for the treatment of bipolar disorders, lithium is still an important drug in this disease, therefore, the prescribers have to be aware of the consequences of acute lithium intoxications." @default.
