- W2052207678 abstract "Laser ablation synthesis of heteroatomic SemSn molecules from selenium, selenium–sulfur mixtures and selenium disulfide alone or mixed with selenium and sulfur was studied using common MALDI–TOF (matrix assisted laser desorption-ionization–time of flight) mass spectrometric instrumentation. From elemental gray and red selenium, the formation of Sem+(m=2–9) and Sem-(m=1–7) was achieved. Composite SemSn species were obtained when laser pulses were applied onto a selenium–sulfur mixture or to solid selenium disulfide (SeS2). For the first time, nine-membered SemSn compounds are observed. Likewise, it was observed that positively charged mixed substances formed were of higher molecular weight than the negatively charged ones. Ions SemSn- with m + n = 3 or 4 and SemSn+ with m + n = 5 or 8 dominate in the mass spectra of SeS2. At least 12 new selenium sulfides not described in the literature were identified from the mass spectra, while most of them were generated from selenium disulfide and detected in the positive mode. Their stoichiometry was confirmed using isotopic pattern modelling." @default.
