- W2053302647 abstract "Practical utilization of a coated conductor as a superconducting magnet operating at 77 K requires not only an improvement in the Jc at self field but also suppression of any decline in the Jc value in the magnetic field. In this study, nanoparticles and crystalline defects were created as the flux pinning in a high-Jc Sm1+xBa2−xCu3Oy film during a film deposition process. We obtained extremely high-Jc values, Jc = 0.37 MA/cm2 (77 K, B∥c, B = 5 T) and Jc = 0.1 MA/cm2 (77 K, B∥c, B = 8 T). Cross-sectional low magnification and high-resolution TEM micrographs confirm the presence of Sm-enriched nanoparticles (x value > 0.2) embedded in the SmBCO lattice; typical particle sizes were 15 nm and particle density about 1010–1011 particles cm−2.
