- W2053558462 abstract "Abstract The exchange of ions between dilute solutions of Ca2+, Na +, H+ and Cl− ions and strongly acidic resin Amberlite 200 C was studied both experimentally and theoretically. Experiments were carried out semi-balchwise in a single fluidized bed or in a series of fluidized beds separated by screens. The equation based on the Nernst-Planck model of diffusion in elecirolytes was used in the calculation of the effective interdiffusion coefficients in the liquid and solid phase. The mixing of both phases was approximated by a series of mixing stages for solids and substages for the liquid phase within each solid mixing stage. The rate of ion exchange was controlled mainly by the rate of mass transfer in the liquid phase. However, the internal resistance was not negligible even at low concentrations and a correction for it was tried by solving a linear approximation of the particle diffusion equation. The agreement between the experimental and predicted results is satisfactory." @default.
