- W2053736589 abstract "To the Editor: Momota et al. [1] claim that there are no controlled studies to determine whether propofol given after the onset of lidocaine-induced seizures (posttreatment) stops lidocaine-induced seizures. After performing a Pub Med search, we concur with the authors. However, the evidence is overwhelming that drugs effective in terminating seizures induced by one local anesthetic are also effective in terminating seizures induced by another. This apparently is the case for propofol. In controlled rat experiments, we showed propofol 1 mg/kg IV to be as effective as thiopental 2 mg/kg IV in abolishing bupivacaine-induced seizures [2]. We respectfully suggest that our study should have been cited by Momota et al. [1]. James E.
