- W2054296844 abstract "A detailed chronology of structural events in the southern part of the Moine Thrust Zone has been established. The earliest structural event was the formation of mylonites along narrow movement zones from all the rock groups represented in the Thrust Zone. Mylonitisation was followed by the isoclinal folding of the mylonitic rocks. The dominant foliation in the mylonites and the ESE. lineation found in rocks throughout the Thrust Zone were developed in a phase of recrystallisation which closely followed the isoclinal folding. Further phases of folding affected the planar and linear structures. Finally all the earlier structures were broken up along the thrust planes. The recognition that the formation of mylonites and the development of thrust planes were two distinct structural events in the Moine Thrust Zone has encouraged a reconstruction of the earlier structural pattern by removing the effects of the thrust movements. When the thrust slices are replaced in their original relationships the apparent anomalous nature of the north-west margin of the Scottish Caledonides is resolved; the srtuctural pattern disrupted by the thrust movements resembles the structural pattern of marginal regions of orogenic belts throughout the world." @default.
