- W2054346070 abstract "A detailed study of the retention of [ 3 H]aniline hapten-protein conjugates by different tissues of injected rats revealed the liver as the major site of antigen retention both short and long term post injection. Within the liver the hepatocyte appears to be the most active cell population with regard to the processing of antigen. Liver polysomes serve as a source of an apparent hepatocyte-derived antigen-RNA species whose formation seems to be a direct consequence of in vivo antigenic stimulation. The extensive and rigorous chemical treatments (e.g., multiple phenol/chloroform extractions) used in the isolation of antigen-RNA as well as the susceptibility of the complex to nucleases substantiates the specific and apparently strong association of antigen with RNA. An in vivo biological assay, utilizing the Farr test, indicates that antigen-containing-polysome material possesses the ability to induce or to booster a specific immune response to the antigen injected originally." @default.
