- W2054865256 abstract "An analytic approach to the strongly coupled problem is described, which allows a systematic expansion of the Hamiltonian in inverse powers of the coupling parameter K. The approach rests on the construction of a novel vibronic basis causing the Hilbert space to decay into two orthogonal subspaces and such that, for strong coupling, the low-lying states in are separated from all states in by a large energy gap. This constitutes the basis for the construction of an effective Hamiltonian H1 defined on and generated by means of projection operators. The form of H1 is that of an infinite series in increasing powers of K−1, which is terminated after the terms of O (K−2). The eigenvalues of H1 incorporate those already found by Moffitt and Thorson, including the correct splitting of the t2g vibrations." @default.
