Oscinella frit and O. pusilla were predominant species contributing 90% and 7%, respectively, of the total (N = 150,000); evidently, they are the most important stem boring pests of agricultural grass in Denmark. O. frit was numerous in most grass areas, annual as well as perennial; obviously, perennial pastures were less attractive for oviposition than annual and mown grass. O. pusilla was especially abundant in perennial pastures, rather common in perennial mown grass fields, but few in numbers in annual grass. The behaviour of O. frit and O. pusilla is discussed; in contrast to O. frit, O. pusilla seems to be stationary not taking off regularly. Hence O. pusilla may build up local populations characterized by few emigrations and immigrations. In Denmark the number of annual generations of O. frit and O. pusilla are three and two, respectively. In some years the third generation of O. frit is partial. The developmental time of O. frit in terms of day‐degrees above 7 °C is discussed; apparently, in Denmark the annual temperature sums are close to the values required for the completion of three annual generations of this species. Zusammenfassung Oscinella frit (L.) und O. pusilla (Mg.) (Diptera, Chloropidae) im Kulturgras in Dänemark Auf Anbauflächen von Kulturgräsern in Jutland, Dänemark, wurden das Artenspektrum, die Phänologie und die Abundanz der Chloropiden untersucht (1979–1982). Oscinella frit und O. pusilla waren die vorherrschenden Arten, die mit 90% und 7% zum Gesamtfang beitrugen (N = 150000). Diese zwei Arten waren weitaus die wichtigsten halmminierenden Chloropiden im dänischen Grasland. O. frit war zahlreich in den meisten Arten von Kulturgräsern, sowohl auf einjährigen als auch mehrjährigen Anbauflächen; augenscheinlich war mehrjähriges Weideland weniger anziehend für die Eiablage als jährliche und gemähte Flächen. O. pusilla war besonders zahlreich in mehrjährigem Weideland, ziemlich zahlreich in mehrjährigen gemähten Anbauflächen, aber spärlich in einjährigen Kulturgräsern. Das Verhalten von O. frit und O. pusilla wird diskutiert. Im Gegensatz zu O. frit ist O. pusilla augenscheinlich eine stationäre Art, die nicht regelmäßig aufsteigt. Deshalb konnte O. pusilla örtliche Populationen aufbauen, für welche sparsame Emigrationen und Immigrationen charakteristisch sind. In Dänemark kommen 3 und 2 jährliche Generationen von O. frit und O. pusilla vor. In einigen Jahren war die 3. Generation von O. frit nur partiell. Die Entwicklungszeit von O. frit wird im Sinne von Tagesgraden oberhalb 7 °C, diskutiert.
