Plastic deformation, often present in particle impaction, is taken into account in this model. The prediction of linear dependence on impact velocity in the plastic region for both conducting and insulating particles agrees with experiments of John et al. (1980), J. Aerosol Sci.11, 115. The cubic size dependence for insulators is also in agreement with their experiments. A quadratic size dependence is predicted for conductors in plastic impacts. For perfectly elastic impacts, contact charge increases with impact velocity to the power of 0.8 and 0.6 for conductors and insulators respectively, while the size dependence remains the same as that for plastic impacts." @default.
