- W2056553548 abstract "Abstract The microstructure and the magnetization at 4.2°K of hydrided niobium specimens in the two-phase and single-phase regions were investigated. The habit plane and crystallographic nature of the transformation for the hydrided phase were consistent with previous findings; the hydride phase was found to be non-superconducting at temperatures above 1.8°K. Evidence of coherency strains was present. Evidence for the connectivity and distribution of the two phases was found in the magnetization data. A high degree of irreversibility and trapped flux indicated continuity of the superconducting niobium-rich phase, which was checked by metallographic observation. Only the bulk properties of the phase were observed when the superconducting phase was not continuous. For very fine distributions of the hydride, extensive fluxoid pinning effects were noticed. These may be attributed to a decoration of the substructure of the starting material by the hydride." @default.
