Unterschiede sind zu erwarten beim Bildpunktrauschen, bei den Schichtempfindlichkeitsprofilen und damit auch bei der Orts- und Kontrastauflösung in Vorschubrichtung sowie im Artefaktverhalten. Das Bildpunktrauschen verändert sich leicht in Abhängigkeit vom z-Interpolationsalgorithmus, ist aber unabhängig vom Pitch-Faktor. Die Schichtempfindlichkeitsprofile werden verbreitert, in direkter Abhängigkeit vom gewählten Z-Interpolationsalgorithmus und vom Pitch-Faktor. Die Orts- und Kontrastauflösung in z-Richtung sind verbessert, was aber überlappende Bildrekonstruktion erfordert. Das Artefaktverhalten unterscheidet sich nur sehr subtil von dem in der konventionellen CT. In Summe ergibt sich, daß die Bildqualität bei Spiral-CT gleichwertig oder besser ist als bei konventioneller CT. Image quality in spiral CT is equivalent to that in conventional CT in most respects if the same scan parameters are chosen. This also follows directly form the considerations discussed in part I. Differences have to be expected regarding pixel noise, slice sensitivity profiles and therefore also spatial and contrast resolution in the z-direction and potentially with respect to artefact behaviour. Pixel noise values are only changed slightly depending on the z-interpolation algorithm, but independent of the pitch factor. Slice sensitivity profiles are widened in direct dependence on the chosen z-interpolation algorithm and the pitch factor. Spatial and contrast resolution in the z-direction are improved if overlapping image reconstruction is carried out. Artefact behaviour differs only subtly from that in conventional CT. In summary, image quality in spiral CT is equivalent to or slightly better than in conventional CT." @default.
