- W2056978108 abstract "Abstract Classical dynamics sputtering simulations have been performed for Cu/Ni(100) and Ni/Cu(100) targets (for overlayer coverages of 0.0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 ML) under 3 keV Ar bombardment. The simulations for 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 ML coverages are based on targets having (2×2), c(2×2) and (1×1) overlayer superstructures respectively. The simulation model employs classical many-body potentials of the Finnis–Sinclair type to describe the bonding interactions between Cu and Ni atoms. The simulations predict the yields, energy distributions and angular distributions of sputtered substrate and overlayer atoms, and the yields and compositions of sputtered clusters. The results are discussed with reference to the practical task of characterising metal overlayer growth modes via surface mass spectrometry." @default.
