- W2057107635 abstract "Rigorous optical analysis has been applied to simulate room temperature (RT) operation of nitride in-plane diode lasers and to determine optimal numbers NOPT of their active region quantum wells (QWs) ensuring the lowest RT thresholds. The most advanced designs of nitride diode lasers known from scientific publications are analysed. Both NOPT values and RT threshold carrier concentrations have been found for nitride lasers much higher than those determined for arsenide and phosphide diode lasers. Hence, it may be concluded that the technology of nitride structures is still far from being optimal - this and/or the physics of nitride lasers do not allow nitride lasers to reach the earlier achievements of conventional diode lasers." @default.
