- W2058049804 abstract "The so-called instanton, which was discovered by ]~]~LAVIN et al. (~), belongs to the solutions of space dimension D ~ 4 in the classification of homotopy theory (2). The object became of practical use by the ingenious idea of dilute-gas approximation for instantons proposed by C~LLAN et al. (3). It was applied by WILCZEK and Z]~]~ (4) for spin exchange force of quark and antiquark interactions and elaborated by SmFMAN et al. (s). The purpose of this paper is to re-examine the problem for a wide range of q-q spinexchange terms in referring to the empirical formula for hadron masses proposed by the present author sometime ago (s). In what follows the effective size of instantons, which is specified by the inverse of critical length ~[~, ranges in between 100 5[eV to 200 MeV region from ordinary hadron to upsilon bags (7). The physical meaning of the validity of the input parameters used in the estimate is discussed. In the same normalization as WILZC~K and Z ~ , the energy splitting between spin 1 and 0 q-q meson states in S-wave binding may be parametrized by the notations in ref. (6) as" @default.
