The observations were made during the two first hours after the induction of the excystment. During this time many nucleoli lose their granular component and finally disappear. The morphological facts are consistent with the idea that the macronucleus of this ciliate is a very active nucleus during early excystment. It is also suggested that the close relationship which exists between nucleoli and microtubules may represent a functional relationship, facilitating the flow of nucleolar particles from the nucleoli into the cytoplasm where the positioning fibers are forming at this moment and the cortical morphogenesis is being carried out." @default.
