J. L. McCabe and M. R. Rosenzweig, S. K. Smith, and D. M. Blau come to similar conclusions in examining the effects of sectoral participation on fertility in Puerto Rico, Mexico City, and Nicaragua, respectively.5 The results from these studies, which address the informal sector, indicate that one of the fixed costs of labor market participation for" @default.
