- W205916284 abstract "This chapter discusses the competitiveness of Eximbank programs. In conjunction with its mandate to provide financing competitive with that provided by other countries, the Export–Import Bank Act requires the Bank to report regularly to the Congress on the competitiveness of its programs relative to those of the other principal exporting countries. The Bank's assessment of its competitiveness is based on three factors: (1) the breadth of its programs relative to the programs offered by other countries, (2) the amount of support provided relative to that of the competing countries, and (3) the win–loss record for the preliminary commitments it issues. The analysis of the disposition of preliminary commitments issued by the Bank indicates that the Bank's long-term, direct credit program, however, has been quite competitive with that of the other countries and that few export sales are lost because of financing. Whereas the direct credit program appears to have met the congressional mandate to provide financing competitive with that provided by other countries, the program has a substantial cost to the United States." @default.
