The role of viral infections occurring during the course of drug eruption syndromes is illustrated by the classic rash caused by amoxicillin and, in particular, those occurring during the course of mononucleosis. Recently, the involvement of viruses of the herpes virus group (HHV-6, Epstein-Barr virus, CMV) have been found to be present during the course of a severe drug reaction, i.e. the DRESS (drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms). Viral reactivation during the course of this syndrome appears to be directly involved in the clinical and biological manifestations of the syndrome." @default.
