- W2059319328 abstract "Three red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) cultivars were grown in controlled environments at NO3-/NH4+ ratios of 0: 1, 1: 3, 1: 1, 3: 1 and 1: 0. Plants supplied with these two N forms in a ratio of 3: 1 produced the largest dry weight and exhibited the highest net photosynthetic rate. An increase in the proportion of NH4* led to decreases in the nitrate, malate and chlorophyll contents, and increased the activity of nitrate reductase and the protein content of the leaves. When NH4+ was the sole source of N, the chloroplast thylakoid system became loose. The loculi of grana and stroma thylakoids were swollen and the degree of thylakoid aggregation was low; the total length of thylakoids and ratio of appressed to non-appressed membranes were decreased." @default.
