- W2060522037 abstract "Many modern flight control systems are designed according to the “fly-by-wire” concept, which are multiple redundant, so that they can tolerate one or more failures with no or little degradation of performance. One characteristic of most multiple redundant flight control systems is to have an associated monitoring system which, by use of a dedicated mathematical model, monitors the status of the actual flight control system. This mathematical model needs to fulfill two opposite requirements: - represent with a good accuracy the dynamic behavior of the system and of its components; - be simple enough to be actually implemented in the aircraft monitoring system. In this work several alternatives are examined for the modelling of an aircraft quality two-stage electrohydraulic servovalve, from a sophisticated non-linear model to a simple linear first order model. For each model the maximum error between the model indication and the actual servovalve performance is evaluated over the whole range of operating conditions of the servovalve. This error can thus be used as a measure of the quality of the model and, once the model has been selected, it can also be used to establish the threshold for failure indication by the monitoring system." @default.
