- W2060949179 abstract "Summary A case of nephrocalcinosis complicated by persistent Ps. aeruginosa infectionis presented and the results of treatment with Sulfamylon discussed. That Sulfamylon has been effective seems to be evident by the repeated episodes of severe illness following withdrawal of this drug. During a period of two years in which Sulfamylon has been given in doses ranging from 6 to 12 Gm. per day, no appreciable toxic reactions have been observed, and the infecting organism has shown little tendency to develop resistance to this agent. Sulfamylon may cause severe acidosis due to base loss in the urine, especially in the presence of renal tubullar damage, and should be administered along with sufficient alkali to prevent this complication. For this purpose we have routinely employed a one molar solution of sodium lactate in doses ranging from 3 to 5 ml. per kilogram body weight per day, depending on the serum carbon-dioxide content." @default.
