- W2061097296 abstract "THE VALUE OF visual field testing is well established in the fields of ophthalmology, neurology, neurosurgery, and internal medicine. The time-consuming nature of this subjective test, with its inherent inaccuracies in patients unable to cooperate fully, is familiar to most clinicians. It was the purpose of this study to investigate the feasibility of objective visual field testing by use of a specially-designed digital computer to sum and extract from noise the small evoked occipital potentials produced in response to focal visual illumination. Previously, photic driving and the recording of evoked occipital potentials from gross (large area) ocular stimuli have sometimes been useful in indicating the side of a cerebral lesion.1-4In this investigation small stimuli were used in an attempt to achieve greater resolution, enabling the detection of visual field defects. Blindspot experiments were performed on normal subjects to determine the stimulus parameters and background illumination necessary to" @default.
