Concretamente presentamos un programa de intervención naturalista dirigido a las familias de niños con retraso en el desarrollo que tiene como objetivo fundamental mejorar las interacciones que se producen entre las madres y sus hijos. La finalidad última de este programa de intervención naturalista es optimizar el desarrollo de la comunicación y el lenguaje de los niños. El artículo está dirigido a profesionales que trabajan en servicios de atención precoz o logopedas que de alguna forma ven la necesidad de formar y trabajar con los padres de estos niños. Fundamentalmente el artículo consiste en la descripción y explicación de los tres grandes bloques en los que se agrupan las estrategias de orientación, que constituyen el programa de intervención, que son: 1) orientaciones generales en torno a la creación de rutinas interactivas, 2) orientaciones generales en relación a la adecuación del entorno, y 3) orientaciones específicas en torno a la optimización de la calidad de la interacción comunicativa y lingüóstica. En este último bloque incluimos, a su vez, las estrategias de gestión de la comunicación y la conversación, las estrategias de adaptación y ajuste del lenguaje que los adultos dirigen a los niños y las estrategias educativas. Asimismo, realizamos unas sugerencias dirigidas a los profesionales del ámbito de la atención precoz y logopedas que trabajan con familias. Fundamentalmente señralamos la importancia de dar un carácter positivo al asesoramiento, así como el tener en cuenta la necesidad de una gran flexibilidad y adaptación del programa a las características de las familias. Finalmente realizamos unas consideraciones más generales dirigidas a los mismos profesionales, que tienen como finalidad ayudarles en el proceso de poner en marcha una intervención naturalista del estilo que se presenta. Thie paper is about the early intervention in communication and language. More specifically, a naturalistic intervention program for the families of children with developmental delay is presented and discussed. The first aim of such intervention is to improve the interactions between the mothers and their children. The second one is to improve the childrenÕs communicative and linguistic development. The article is addressed to those professionals working on early intervention services and speech therapists, that are aware of the need to work with the parents of these children. Essentially, the article is both a description and an explanation of the three main blocks into which the orientation strategies that form the intervention program are grouped: 1) general orientations about the organization of interactive routines, 2) general orientations about the adaptation of the setting, 3) specific orientations about the improvement of the quality of the communicative and linguistic interaction, which include the conversation management strategies, the strategies of input adjustment and adaptation, and the educational strategies. Likewise, the paper also includes some orientations to the professionals who work with families. More specifically we stress the importance of the creation of a positive atmosphere in guidance itself, as well as the need to be flexible on the adaptation of the program to the characteristics of the families.
