The ${mathrm{Cr}}^{3+}$ substitutes for the ${mathrm{In}}^{3+}$ and shows a resolved hyperfine interaction with the six coplanar next-neighbor indium cations. The axial $D$ parameter changes linearly with temperature down to 120ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{}K at a high rate of $frac{ensuremath{partial}D}{ensuremath{partial}T}=ensuremath{-}0.86$ G/ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{}K, which is ascribed to the thermal expansion of the lattice. A comparison between the $D$ parameter observed at 4.2ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{}K and the total uniaxial magnetic anisotropy field of NaCr${mathrm{S}}_{2}$ is made, from which it is concluded that about $ensuremath{-}frac{1}{7}$ of the latter quantity results from single-ion ligand field effects." @default.
