- W2063016895 abstract "The electrodeposition of lead was carried out on five substrates: C, Cu, Ag, Au and Pb from aqueous solution of 2.5 M ammonium acetate, 2.4 M acetic acid and 0.11 M lead acetate or lead chloride. This solution bears practical importance in the electrometallurgy of lead. SEM, AES, X-ray diffraction and electrochemical methods were used to find the optimum experimental conditions for the electrodeposition process. The most uniform deposit on all substrates studied was found in the potential region from −0.5–0.6 V vs Hg2Cl2/Hg reference. At more negative potentials a formation of dendrites was observed. The best deposits were formed on Pb and the least uniform on Du. AES indicated only a few percent of Cl contamination of the top layers of the Pb deposit while the contamination by C, O-containing compounds was substantial. The X-ray diffraction data showed that the most likely compound present in the deposit was lead acetate oxide. The effect of chloride ion on the deposition-dissolution processes has been discussed." @default.
