The depressed light-dependent slopes and a non-linear rise in CO2 assimilation with 620 nm light imply a degree of thermolability in energy transfer from phycocyanin to chlorophyll. 3.|Phycocyanin fluorescence and phycocyanin-excited chlorophyll fluorescence increased equally with increasing incubation temperatures up to 73°C, indicating that energy flow from phycocyanin to short wave (686 nm) fluorescent chlorophyll of photosystem 2 is not greatly disrupted. 4.|Enchancement expressed as E1 was maximal at 55°C, indicating that electon flow from photosystem 2 was limiting at this suboptimal growth temperature. Enhancement expressed as E2 was maximal at 73°C, indicating that oxidation of the electron transport chain by photosystem 1 was limiting. Analysis of the enhancement data imply that spillover from photosystem 2 to photosystem 1 could occur at 55°C and that either energy flow from phycocyanin to photosystem 1 chlorophyll or photoreaction 1 directly was impaired at 73°C." @default.
