- W2063168344 abstract "Although electron beam induced depletion rates are not high for oxygen chemisorbed on Ru(001), they determine certain kinetic features of the titration of chemisorbed oxygen by H2; namely, the induction time and the rate at intermediate oxygen coverages. The e-beam induced effects were found to include both desorption and changes in the chemisorbed state of oxygen. At high coverage, the cross section for electron stimulated desorption (ESD) of oxygen is about 10-22 cm2. At about 700 K the diffusion of oxygen from the subsurface region and/or across the surface into the analysis zone becomes an important contributor to the AES oxygen signal. Repopulation by diffusion of an oxygen-depleted region occurs readily in the absence of the electron beam at temperatures above 700 K." @default.
