- W2063635047 abstract "An experimental and theoretical investigation of the solubility of hematite (Fe2O3) in H2SO4 solutions at high temperature (230-270 °C) was conducted. Experimental measurements were carried out in a titanium autoclave equipped with a dip tube for sample withdrawal with a porous titanium filter. An electrolyte thermodynamic model was employed to simulate the solubility and speciation of Fe2O3 in H2SO4 solutions. The revised HKF model, which is incorporated into the OLI Systems® software (Version 6.5), was used to calculate thermodynamic properties for aqueous species. The density model was introduced to extrapolate the equilibrium constant for Fe-SO4 complex species. Nonidealities were treated through the Bromley-Zemaitis ion interaction method which is also incorporated in the OLI software. The predicted solubility of Fe2O3 was in very good agreement with the experimental data and in reasonable agreement with other literature data. The predominant species identified were Fe2(SO4)30, Fe(OH)2(SO4)2−, FeSO4+, FeHSO42+ and Fe3+ in the range of H2SO4 concentration 0∼0.7 molality." @default.
