- W2064048633 abstract "The minimum variation of one of two objects, from the subjective equidistant, recognised as such, is — by definition — a measure of the stereoscopic sensitivity of an observer. The factors known to influence this threshold are outlined. The variation of stereoscopic sensitivity due to most of these factors has been investigated. The direction and the mode of influence of these factors correspond to the expected variation based on logical and plausible hypotheses. The influence of some factors, on the other hand, suggests a variation which cannot as yet be explained fully. One of these is the distance of the reference point from the observer. Experimental data is published from time to time suggesting a variation of stereoscopic sensitivity with the observation distance. Recent data confirm this and indicate a characteristic pattern of variation. The possible implications of this are discussed and the direction of further research is indicated." @default.
