- W2064066778 abstract "ABSTRACT DESIGN considerations for a solar peanut drying system are presented. The system uses air as the col-lecting fluid and a rockbed as the storage medium. A computer model was used to simulate performance of the system with variation of several parameters. Using average season weather data, assuming practical values for the system parameters with initial rockbed temperatures of 40 °C, it was found that a collector area of 156 m^ with a rock bed volume of 56 m^ would supply fifty percent of the energy for drying one wagon of peanuts (4.72 Mg). The rockbed would recover its initial temperature with a 3-day cycle. Initial rockbed storage temperature has a significant effect on percent of solar energy for drying. Procedures are presented for modify-ing estimates of the system performance when different values are selected for certain parameters." @default.
