- W2064583984 abstract "We report rock-magnetic and magnetostratigraphic results from one of the best exposed Permo-Carboniferous outcrops in Mexico, in order to determine some decisive magnetostratigraphy constraints. Some spinels, most probably titanomagnetites, seem to be responsible for aimantation, although greigite may also exist judging from thermal desaimantation of isothermal remanence. Remanence analyses indicate that only one remanent component could be recognized with minor secondary overprint, which were easily removed applying 100–180 °C. Six normal and four reverse magnetozones were recognized from bottom to top in Patlanoya section between 340 and 280 Myr. Both normal and reverse polarity rocks were found in Carboniferous time around 340 Myr, in agreement with previous paleomagnetic works. Our record revealed two normal subchrons within PCRS (Kiaman), the dominantly reverse superchron, at 305 and 280 Myr, respectively. These, which may be speculatively correlated to normal aimantation, occasionally occurred during PCRS interval. Nous présentons ici des résultats de magnétisme de roches et de magnétostratigraphie obtenus sur l'un des affleurements Permo-Carbonifère les mieux exposés du Mexique, dans le but de déterminer quelques contraintes magnétostratigraphiques décisives. Des spinelles, très probablement des titanomagnétites, semblent être responsables de la l'aimantation. Néanmoins, des greigites peuvent aussi être présentes, si l'on en juge par la désaimantation thermique de la rémanence isothermale. Les analyses de rémanence indiquent qu'une seule composante rémanent pourrait être reconnu avec des empreintes secondaires mineures, qui ont été facilement éliminées par chauffage à 100–180 °C. Six magnétozones normales et quatre inverses ont été reconnues, de haut en bas, dans la section Patlanoya, entre 340 et 280 Ma. Des roches de polarités normales et inverses ont été à la fois trouvées à l'époque Carbonifère autour de 340 Myr, en accord avec des travaux paléomagnétiques précédents. Notre enregistrement a révélé deux sous-chrones à l'intérieur du PCRS (Kiaman), les super-chrones inverses dominants étant situés respectivement à 305 et à 280 Ma. Ceux-ci, qui peuvent être corrélés spéculativement à des aimantations normales, se sont produits occasionnellement pendant l'intervalle PCRS.
