- W2065152416 abstract "Recent studies of electroweak baryogenesis have led to the conclusion that the standard electroweak theory cannot explain the baryonic asymmetry of the universe. The reason is threefold. First, Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violation is thought to be too small for the baryogenesis to occur from the CP-symmetric state. Second, recent lattice simulations disproved the suggestion that parity is spontaneously broken in the early universe (which provides the existence of the Chern-Simons condensate and greatly amplifies CP-violation). And last, a cosmological upper bound on the Higgs mass (45 GeV) was hit by the experiments at LEP. In this letter I suggest a new scenario for electroweak baryogenesis which requires neither an additional source of CP-violation nor the Chern-Simons condensate. I also show that higher order loop corrections to the high temperature scalar potential modify a previously obtained upper bound on the Higgs mass, shifting it up to about 64 GeV, which is still somewhat higher than the experimental bound." @default.
