The measured yield is compared to a simple theoretical model of the photoexcitation process based on a step discontinuity at the metal-vacuum interface. A simple model for the spatial variation of the vector potential A near the metal-vacuum interface is also included. It is found that this model overestimates the yield by a factor of ensuremath{sim}30 for W(110) and ensuremath{sim}55 for W(111). This suggests that a self-consistent treatment of A is required to better understand the data." @default.
