The causative agents are usually saprophytic, aerobic, slow-growing organisms that occur in pus or tissues as gram-positive branching filaments about 1 µ in diameter and are usually partially acid fast. The fungi are often isolated from the soil and from plant or organic materials. Nocardiosis usually manifests itself as a subacute or chronic suppurative disease, although an acute fulminating form may occur. Nocardiosis may occur as a localized or widely disseminated metastatic infection. It may involve all tissues, but it is found...References1. BALLENGERGOLDRING CND: Nocardiosis in childhood. J.
