- W2069071617 abstract "Abstract Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) norms and critical values are two tools employed in the interpretation of plant analyses. The accuracy of these tools, especially DRIS, depends on their abilities to make diagnoses over time. Changes in values of burley tobacco ( Nicotiana tabacum L.) leaf nutrient concentrations, and ratios from 35 d after transplanting (early) to postcuring (late) were examined to determine how the indices might respond as diagnostic norms over time. Total N, P, K, Ca, Mg, CI, and Mo analyses were performed on early and cured‐leaf tissue samples from a 2‐yr field study employing three N rates, four K rates, and two K sources (K 2 SO 4 and KCI). The data were used in DRIS equations to determine the comparative abilities of early and late sampling to predict the order of nutrient limitations. Although sampling period (SP) and SP ✕ fertilizer treatment interactions significantly influenced nutrient concentrations and ratios, DRIS norms were able to make similar nutrient diagnoses on plant tissue sampled early and late. Precise diagnoses employing DRIS ratios over wide time periods can be obtained if large numbers of nutrients are considered simultaneously." @default.
